responses, video two.
What are the 3 reasons why biodiversity is important?
Biodiversity is important because it adds beauty to an are, in all things, life depends on life and it stabilizes a habitat.
What does threatened and endangered mean?
Threatened is when 10% chance of extinction in next 100 years. Endangered is when there is a 20% chance of being extinct in next 20 years
How is this different from extinct?
Extinct means that there has been no sighting pf the species in 50 years, with the other two there is still some alive.
How do we protect biodiversity? Name and explain all the strategies.
- Preserve the habitats by setting up national parks and conservation reserves.
- With habitat corridors, which is a strip of land to go from one place to another.
- Re-introduction programs, when something is threatened or extinct in the wild but are okay in captivity, they introduce them back into their homes.
What examples of endangered species are given in the video? What is being done to help these species?
- California Condor
- Przewalski’s Horse
- American Alligator
- Homerus Swallowtail Butterfly
- Tibetan Yak
