Who are the WWF?
The WWF is an acronym for the World Wildlife Fund which is an international non-governmental organization, they work with endangered species all over the world by conserving, researching and protecting environments worldwide.
What is their mission?
The WWF's mission is to ‘stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.’ They do this by conserving the world's biological diversity.
Who is this man?
This is Carter Roberts, he is the current President and CEO of the World Wildlife Fund in the United States. He leads WWF’s efforts to save the world’s greatest ecosystems by linking science, field and policies to work with markets and businesses to create a cleaner impact on our planet.
Where do they work?
The WWF works on the ground all over the world, in rainforests, deserts and in the arctic. They also make business and industry more sustainable.

The Galápagos Islands are a group of volcanic islands, located about 1,000 km off the coast of Ecuador. They have become famous their wealth of unique plants and animals found nowhere else in the world.
The WWF is helping the Galapagos by implementing eco-tourism to both “support conservation and improve people’s livelihoods through collaboration with partners, governments and communities.” (WWF, 2014) Fishing restrictions, the restrictions are trying to help the fishermen “embrace sustainable practices and to promote a new fishing rights-based approach.” (WWF, 2014). They have also started to monitor the marine reserve. As well as this the WWF, in a partnership with Toyota, has begun making the Galapagos Islands a model of sustainable living for the rest of the world.

The golden-mantled tree kangaroo, was discovered in the Torricelli Mountains of Papua New Guinea, in 1990. It had a chestnut-brown coat, pale belly and a double stripe of gold down its back. A second population was discovered on the Indonesian side of the New Guinea Island in 2005, but there are very few tree kangaroos and their population is thought to be decreasing. The causes of their decreasing population is thought by scientists to be because 99% of the tree kangaroo’s habitat has been destroyed and they are over hunted. The WWF is collaborating with programs such as TRAFFIC, the wildlife trade monitoring network, to reduce illegal hunting and raise awareness about the effects of hunting tree kangaroos.

Paper Name: What is Global Warming?
- The world has experienced cold and warm periods.
- Due to variations in Earth’s orbit around the Sun, which affects the amount of sunlight reaching Earth’s surface.
- Our planet is now warming at a rapid rate, over a short period of time, stuffing up our climate system and the natural environment.
- According to the World Meteorology Organization, the years 2010, 2005 and 1998 ranked as the hottest on record,
- The ten warmest years on record have all occurred since 1998
- In the Southern Hemisphere, 2009 was the warmest year since records began in 1880
- Global temperature rises by century end of between 1.1°C and 6.4°C
- Carbon dioxide, water vapour, nitrous oxide, methane and other gases, maintain an average temperature of about 15°C on the Earth’s surface.
- More greenhouse gasses result in hotter temperatures on the earth’s surface.
- Scientists have discovered that the greater concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is a because of human activity.
- Burning fossil fuels (coal and oil) and land clearing (which releases the carbon trapped in soil and vegetation) are rapidly changing the carbon dioxide balance of our atmosphere.

Scientists have discovered that the greater concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is a because of human activity, burning fossil fuels and land clearing (which releases the carbon trapped in soil and vegetation) are rapidly changing the balance of our atmosphere, our planet is now warming at a very alarming rate. The consequences of this are devastating; ice caps are melting, which is destroying many arctic and Antarctic animals homes, seas are getting warmer, killing coral and sea levels are rising, which may, in a couple of years flood many of the world’s low lying cities like Singapore and New York. A small Russian town called Chukotka has been greatly affected by climate change. Melted ice caps are forcing polar bears into venturing into the town and killing people, WWF has been helping by setting up polar bear patrols to intercept the bears before they reach the village.
